Live Screen Printing at Events: The Original On-Site Print Experience
There is a reason a live screen printing station still stops people in their tracks. The ink, the squeegee, the press spinning to the next color — it is a piece of theater, and it ends with a guest pulling on a shirt they just watched get made. For events that want a hands-on, high-energy merch moment, live screen printing is hard to beat.
Merch Troop runs live screen printing activations at corporate events, trade shows, festivals, and brand launches across Los Angeles, Orange County, Las Vegas, and nationwide.
How live screen printing works on-site
We bring a compact, event-ready screen printing setup to your venue: a manual press, pre-burned screens with your artwork, ink, a flash cure or conveyor dryer, and a trained crew. The workflow is simple for guests:
- Guest picks a shirt size and color.
- The crew loads it on the press and pulls each color of your design.
- The print is cured on-site so it is wearable and wash-ready immediately.
- Guest walks away in their freshly printed shirt — usually in two to three minutes.
Because the screens are burned ahead of time, each print is fast and consistent. That makes screen printing the right call when you have a fixed design and want to move a lot of pieces.
When to choose screen printing vs. other live methods
Screen printing is one of several methods we run live — and the best events often mix a few. Here is where each fits:
- Live screen printing — best for bold, one- to three-color designs at high volume. Lowest cost per piece once you are moving quantity.
- DTF heat-press — best for full-color, photo-detailed, or variable artwork. More flexible than screen printing when designs change.
- Embroidery and patch bars — best for premium hats and a build-your-own feel.
If your design is simple and the line is going to be long, screen printing keeps it moving. If you need full color or want guests to choose between multiple designs on the fly, we will usually pair it with DTF. Our live event printing overview breaks down the full menu.
A screen printing activation that looks like your brand
A live screen printing event is as much about the look of the booth as the prints. We stage the station to match your activation — clean equipment, branded signage, organized blank apparel, and a crew that engages your guests instead of just running machines. Whether it is a screen printing activation on a trade show floor or a pop-up at a brand event in LA, the setup reads premium, not industrial.
What live screen printing costs
A live screen printing station starts at our base live event rate of $250/hour for a two-person, two-machine crew, with additional operators at $125/hour for high-volume runs. Screens, ink, curing, and setup are included in the build.
Local Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego activations typically run $5,000–$7,500 all-in once apparel and crew are factored. Multi-color jobs, very high volumes, and out-of-area events affect the final number, so the best move is a quick custom quote.
